A rollover is a picture in an HTML page that changes when you move the mouse pointer over it. Rollovers are commonly used as "buttons" that link to a different page or that download a file. While visually impressive, rollovers come with some additional overhead in terms of file size and download time. Also, rollovers are not supported by all versions of every Web browser (although they are supported by version 3.x and later of both Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator, and in the current versions of Safari and Firefox).
